Gangs of London – Series 2

Project Summary

When: August 2021
Where: Gallions Point Marina; QE2 Bridge
Vessels used: Albert; Alfie; Bravo Lima GB; Scheldemond I

The first Gangs of London series – a thriller we were delighted to be part of by facilitating filming of scenes in Dartford around the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge – launched in 2020 to critical acclaim.

Its roaring success led to a second series being commissioned by Sky. And with even more action unfolding on the River Thames this time around, we were delighted to be involved once again.

Here’s how we helped make it happen…

How Livett's made it happen

As the go-to trusted name in marine film services, it was a pleasure to be asked to assist once again with the production of one of TV’s biggest new shows.

As is often the case, our role began by working in tandem with the production team’s location managers to establish ideal locations for shooting. Once the two areas were identified – Gallions Point Marina in Woolwich and, in keeping with the first series, the beaches around the QE2 Bridge in Dartford – we negotiated the required access and permissions.

Ahead of filming, Livett’s supplied all required camera, safety and support boats – namely Albert, Alfie, and the ever-versatile work platform Scheldemond I. Bravo Lima GB was also used as the hero boat in one explosive scene and was dressed accordingly for her starring role!

As always, an overriding emphasis on safety was paramount; this was especially important on this project, as some scenes involved actors “drowning” in the water. For these we worked alongside safety swimmers, giving them the platform they needed to do their jobs effectively.

Filming wrapped successfully in August 2021, with the series launching in the UK in October 2022 and the US in November 2022. Once again it arrived to critical acclaim, so here’s to a third series and seeing the River Thames take centre stage once again!
