PROJECT DETAILS

Sky’s blockbuster TV event of 2020, Gangs of London, took the nation by storm when it aired in April 2020. Set in the heart of London, the British–American crime series tells the story of the city being torn apart by the turbulent power struggles of international gangs.

Amongst all the dramatic action, one action scene took place on the River Thames. Livett’s filming team were involved throughout the production of these river-based scenes. Here’s how we helped make it happen…

HOW LIVETT'S MADE IT HAPPEN

With extensive experience in filming such action sequences in the past, we were delighted to be contacted by the producers of Gangs of London to help bring the drama on to the River Thames.

We began by helping to find the most suitable location that fitted in with the episode’s plot and the requirements of the scene, which included beaching a boat. It was decided that the Dartford area, including the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, was the best location.

The then-new addition to the Livett’s fleet, Echo Lima I, was chosen as the starring vessel for the scene. Her practical dropdown bow makes her perfect for beaching, whilst her sleek black design made for a very stylish getaway boat on camera!

On the day we also provided Eco Cat as the crew’s camera boat, whilst Lima Lima I was deployed as the safety boat. Having also gained the necessary filming permissions, we coordinated the marine shoot throughout.

All filming went very smoothly, leaving a very happy production team once shooting was wrapped. As you can see in the trailer above, the sunset scenes on the river look fantastic. We are delighted to have helped showcase the River Thames to captivated worldwide audiences once again, and look forward to doing so for the next production!
