Alfie is a beaver-style tug featuring a large open rear deck, a pusher bow, a towing post and a tow hook.
Ideal as a general workboat, small tug, filming platform, camera boat or safety boat on the River Thames in London and connected waterways, Alfie combines compact size with the strength to push and tow.
Her main cabin houses the steering position and gives access to the engine room and forward cabin, which is fitted out with a WC and storage areas.
Since acquiring her in 2010, Alfie has been refitted twice to keep her to the high standards of the rest of the Livett’s fleet. In 2016 she was stripped down and rebuilt with new engines, a new interior, joystick steering, new fendering fitted all around the hull, and new electrics.
In 2026 she underwent another extensive refurbishment, adding new steelwork and windows, a redesigned interior, a full repaint and a new tow hook.
Alfie is a flexible vessel that is equally at home supporting a film crew or a marine civil engineering job. She is also well suited to houseboat tows and can be used for brand activations.
Alfie has been used as a safety boat on a number of projects for both filming and marine civil engineering, including:
