We’re all set to welcome another very special visitor to the heart of London this week.

The trimaran IDEC SPORT is currently attempting to set a World Sailing Speed Record for the journey from Hong Kong to London. Having set off on 18 January she has journeyed around the globe and is on course to reach London on the morning of Wednesday 19 February 2020.

You can follow the closing stages of IDEC SPORT’s voyage as she heads towards London on this live GPS tracking link.

Once the vessel and her crew cross the finishing line of their epic month-long journey at the QEII Bridge in Dartford, they will continue upriver into central London. As their adventure draws to a successful close, we will be hosting IDEC SPORT and her record-breaking crew at our River Thames base, Butler’s Wharf Pier.

Located a stone’s throw from Tower Bridge, the pier provides an iconic background to mark IDEC SPORT’s arrival in the capital, with plenty of incredible photo opportunities. Furthermore our vessel Dixie Queen, London’s largest luxury cruising event venue, will be used as a floating base for the welcome party, including all press and PR activities.

Of course we are no strangers to welcoming groundbreaking vessels in the heart of London. Back in September 2019 we hosted the christening and launch ceremony for the spectacular new Hugo Boss sailing yacht, ahead of its entry in the gruelling Vendée Globe race. The event was attended by a number of VIPs and famous faces from the worlds of sport, fashion and entertainment.

Everyone at Livett’s wishes the IDEC SPORT team the very best of luck in the last leg of the journey as we look forward to welcoming you to London!
