Butler’s Wharf Pier took centre stage in the capital on the evening of Thursday 19 September as it hosted the christening and launch ceremony for the brand new Hugo Boss sailing yacht.

The eye-catching event was attended by a number of VIPs and stars from the worlds of sport, fashion and entertainment, with the yacht being officially christened by model and actress Poppy Delevingne.

Set to be raced around the world in the gruelling Vendée Globe race by British sailor Alex Thomson, the groundbreaking £6m yacht glistened as the evening sun as it set beyond Tower Bridge.

“The new HUGO BOSS is the culmination of the last 16 years of this team’s work,” explains Thomson. “We’ve brought together the very best people – across every area of the project – to create a boat which is groundbreaking in so many ways, a boat which we very much hope will allow us to achieve our ambition of winning the Vendée Globe.”

You can see the yacht being launched and setting sail for the first time in the below videos:

Having graced the River Thames, the yacht will race for the first time on 27 October 2019 when Alex Thomson competes in the Transat Jacques Vabre race from France to Brazil.

Similarly to the Adidas Football Creator Dock, the event once again showcased the many benefits of hosting a product launch or PR event at Butler’s Wharf Pier. With truly stunning surroundings in the heart of London, ample branding opportunities and our hugely experienced team supporting the event throughout, there’s no finer venue to grab audiences’ attention.
