To launch the exclusive Wall’s x Crocs “Mad for Summer” collaboration, Livett’s was asked to bring an unmistakable piece of brand theatre to the River Thames: a giant floating Crocs shoe, fully wrapped in campaign branding, cruising past some of London’s most recognisable landmarks.

We provided the vessels, build support, and marine coordination needed to turn an eye-catching concept into a smooth, photogenic reality on the water, before mooring up in full view of the brand’s event on the riverbank.

How Livett's made it happen

The giant Crocs shoe needed a platform substantial enough to carry its scale and branding – a task perfect for our barge LP1.

Ahead of the activation, a platform base was welded onto LP1, allowing the build team to frame over the barge and completely cover it in branding – transforming it into an unmissable brand asset over a three-day build at the Royal Docks.

Once built, LP1 was towed downriver and cruised through Central London, giving Londoners and passers-by an unexpected sight.

Echo Lima I was deployed as the safety boat throughout, while Thames Bosun served as drone boat for the day, supporting aerial capture from Stem Studios – a team we have worked alongside on numerous previous projects.

Two safety swimmers were also arranged as part of the water safety provision, with Chris Livett taking on the role of marine coordinator for the activation, overseeing the operation from start to finish.

After the cruise, LP1 was moored at Mark Brown’s Moorings – a mooring just along from Tower Bridge – where Livett’s held sole occupancy for the duration of the event. The brand’s own event was taking place at the nearby Potters Fields Park, giving guests a clear, full view of the giant Crocs shoe on the water throughout.

Livett’s also provided a pontoon so the brand team could get out onto the river themselves and take in the spectacle from a unique view.

The result was a standout piece of experiential marketing for the Wall’s x Crocs partnership, with maximum visual impact.

Ed Livett, Managing Director of Livett’s, said: “Whenever a client comes to us with an idea this bold, the fun part is working out how to actually make it happen on the water. Building out LP1 to carry something as visually striking as a giant Crocs shoe, then getting it safely past some of London’s busiest stretches of river, took real coordination across the build, safety and towage side of things.

“Mooring up right in view of the brand’s own event was the perfect finish to the day, and it’s exactly the kind of activation that shows what’s possible on the Thames when you’ve got the right fleet and the right team behind it.”
