To mark BTS’s ARIRANG World Tour and their two shows at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Livett’s was asked to bring the tour’s album artwork to life on the River Thames as part of the wider BTS THE CITY takeover of London.
We provided the barge, safety cover and marine coordination behind a striking illuminated sculpture, cruising into position on the river to sit alongside the London Eye as it turned red for the occasion.
The centrepiece of the activation was a set of three illuminated rings displaying the ARIRANG album logo, built onto our barge Remus over a three-day build in the Royal Docks.
Once ready, Remus was moved upriver and into position at Campions Mooring, just along from the London Eye, timed to coincide with the Eye itself turning red to match the display.
As with any high-profile activation on the river, securing the right permissions was critical. The project came together at relatively short notice, adding extra pressure to an already involved Port of London Authority process, but our experience in navigating these approvals meant a workable plan was in place well ahead of the event.
Safety and camera cover ran throughout the day and into the night, with Bravo Lima GB serving as camera boat and Romeo Lima providing safety cover, alongside safety swimmers arranged for the duration.
As part of the activation, Remus completed a loop around the London Eye to reposition for the display, passing crowds of fans gathered along the riverside bridges to watch the show unfold.
The result was a standout addition to BTS’s London takeover, with the illuminated rings and the red-lit London Eye giving fans a striking, unmissable moment on the river to mark the band’s return to the capital.
Ed Livett, Managing Director of Livett’s, said: “Projects like this show just how versatile the river can be as a stage. Putting the ARIRANG rings on the water, right alongside the London Eye, gave BTS’s fans something really special to see.
“Seeing the crowds lining the bridges to watch it all happen was a brilliant reminder of why we love bringing these big, ambitious ideas to life on the Thames.”
