Livett’s supported the production of Netflix crime thriller Legends with specialist marine film services in the UK and Morocco.

Ed Livett travelled to Essaouira as marine coordinator, sourcing specialist craft and advising on water-based filming, while the wider team provided vessels, safety support and marine supervision for scenes filmed around Newhaven.

How Livett's made it happen

Livett’s was proud to support the production of Legends, the Netflix crime thriller inspired by the true story of British undercover Customs investigators who infiltrated drug smuggling gangs in the early 1990s.

This project became one of our most international marine filming jobs to date. As part of the production, Ed Livett travelled to Essaouira, a historic port city on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, to serve as marine coordinator for key water-based scenes.

Working on location, Ed helped source the specialist marine craft required for both on-camera action and off-camera production support. This involved providing practical marine advice, supervision and coordination to help the production team achieve the required shots safely and effectively in a demanding working environment.

The Morocco element of the production drew on Livett’s wider international marine film services experience, where local craft, location-specific conditions and production requirements all need to be brought together into a workable, safe and efficient marine filming plan.

From vessel sourcing and suitability advice to on-the-day support, Ed helped the production bring its marine scenes to life with confidence.

Our wider marine filming team also supported production around Newhaven on the south coast of the UK. For these scenes, Livett’s helped source a local fishing vessel for use during filming, while also providing marine safety guidance and supervision to support the production’s work on and around the water.

Our own Bravo Lima GB was deployed as a camera and drone boat, offering the stable and versatile filming platform needed to help capture the action. A safety boat was also provided, ensuring appropriate on-water support was in place throughout the shoot.

This project showcases Livett’s ability to support productions beyond the River Thames, combining hands-on marine coordination, vessel wrangling, safety supervision and specialist craft hire across multiple locations.

Whether working from our own fleet or sourcing the right craft locally, our team helps production crews overcome the practical challenges of filming on water.

Legends launched on Netflix in May 2026 and quickly became one of the platform’s most talked-about new crime dramas, receiving strong critical and viewer reaction.

Ed Livett, Managing Director of Livett’s, said: “Legends was a fantastic project to be part of and a real showcase for the breadth of the marine film services we offer. Travelling to Morocco to support the production in Essaouira was a brilliant experience in particular.

“Alongside our work in Newhaven, it really demonstrated how adaptable our team can be, whether we’re working from our own fleet or finding the right marine solution on location. We are delighted to have played a part in bringing this gripping true story to screen.”
