Watch Dart at work on major River Thames demolition project

Our multi-purpose flat top steel pontoon Dart has been very hard at work in the east of London over recent months.

Following her extensive refurbishment in early 2023, Dart – which is one of the most uniquely-sized vessels on the Thames – soon went on hire to GPS MACS to play a key role in a major river-based demolition project.

The enormous scope of work for the demolition included the dredging of 4,500m3 of riverbed material, the mobilisation of the largest underwater cutting equipment in the world, and the depositing of 2,000 tonnes of rock armour.

Dart’s reinforced steel deck makes her ideal for deployment as a crane barge, which is exactly the essential service she provided for the project.

To find out more, you can watch the excellent video GPS MACS put together below:

Following her contribution to the Thames Tideway Tunnel works and many other marine civil engineering jobs, it’s fantastic to see Dart involved in yet another major London infrastructure project.

Dart is now available for charter – please contact us with any enquiries.
