NG Explorer spends the morning in London

Workers and residents around the Tower Bridge area were recently given the special treat of witnessing the National Geographic Explorer arrive near Butler’s Wharf to moor at St George’s Stairs. The magnificent expedition ship travelled up the River Thames to arrive in her picturesque location in Central London, with Livett’s providing a mooring party for the vessel and transfer services for passengers.

The Explorer is a state of the art, ice-class expedition ship that can accommodate up to 148 passengers. It boasts a huge range of facilities on board, including a spa, sauna, library, gym, lounge and bar, with observation deck areas that allow passengers to enjoy the views they come across on their journey.

The Edwardian provided the tender service for passengers for the duration of the ship’s stay in London, running to and from Tower Pier every 15 minutes. Livett’s work boat, Artemis, was on luggage boat duty once the Explorer was secure on the tier. At 112m this was the first time that a vessel of this size has been on the tier at St George’s Stairs, and her arrival and departure went very smoothly.

Having serviced the needs of a whole host of super yachts and ships over the past 30 years, Livett’s has developed a reputation for excellence in providing logistical assistance to such large vessels travelling through and staying in London.
