We are delighted to announce work on the newly upgraded Sidney L is now complete.
This significant refurbishment has transformed her into a fully equipped crane barge ready to take on the most demanding marine operations on the River Thames.
One of the most popular pontoons in our fleet since her arrival in late 2017, Sidney L now boasts a 65-tonne crawler crane, with an optional jib length of up to 40 metres.

This powerful new setup is complemented by 20 hardwood crane mats, a full suite of lifting equipment, and two 12-metre spud legs.
This makes Sidney L an incredibly versatile platform for a wide range of marine operations, including:
- Piling
- Salvage
- Heavy lifts
- Boat lifts
- Marine deliveries
- Pier maintenance
- Brow removals
Sidney L is fully licensed by the Port of London Authority, ensuring she is operationally ready and compliant for work across the tidal Thames.
This extensive upgrade reflects our continued investment in versatile marine equipment, as well as our commitment to supporting complex marine engineering projects with safe, reliable, and innovative solutions.
Supporting the efficient operation and deployment of Sidney L is our dedicated tug, Thames Vixen.
She is purpose-built to adeptly handle the towage and manoeuvring of crane barges, providing the perfect companion vessel for seamless project execution.
