Sidney L

About Sidney L

Sidney L is a versatile crane barge designed for demanding marine operations on the River Thames.

Originally joining the Livett’s fleet in 2017 as a multi-purpose flat top steel pontoon, she underwent an extensive refurbishment in 2025 to transform her into a fully equipped crane barge.

She now features a 65-tonne crawler crane with an optional 40-metre jib, two 12-metre spud legs, 20 hardwood crane mats, and full lifting gear.

This makes Sidney L an incredibly versatile platform for a wide range of marine operations, including:

  • Piling
  • Salvage
  • Heavy lifts
  • Boat lifts
  • Marine deliveries
  • Pier maintenance
  • Brow removals

She is fully licensed by the PLA.

Supporting the efficient operation and deployment of Sidney L is our dedicated tug, Thames Vixen.

She is purpose-built to adeptly handle the towage and manoeuvring of crane barges, providing the perfect companion vessel for seamless project execution.
