The development of the new Tideway class barges hit a major landmark earlier this week with the arrival of the first barge, Churchill.
She completed her voyage to London over the weekend and was immediately put to work at Thames Tideway Tunnel’s Carnwath Road site, successfully collecting spoil from the excavations currently well underway there.
Now we are delighted to announce another two major milestones in the process, firstly with the arrival of 1,000t capacity barge Phoebe at 0800 this morning at Gravesend:

Similarly to Churchill, she will also be heading straight to work on the Tideway project and will in time be joined by Zeus, her sister 1,000t barge.
In the snowy elements, Zeus was launched as she neared completion and delivery. Watch her hit the water for the first time in this fantastic video:
She is the fourth of eight in the game-changing Tideway class barges, the newest and most modern on the Thames.
