Christian pushes a barge full of spoil under Tower Bridge

It was a case of another day, another barge for our tug Christian yesterday.

She was filmed by Twitter user @2000MX5 heading down river through Tower Bridge as she made her way from Carnwath Road pushing barge B80 which was full of spoil.

It’s one of the very many journeys Christian and other Bennett’s tugs will be making as part of their work on the Thames Tideway Tunnel over the coming years.

Indeed, what you see in the footage represents a tiny fraction of the approximate 800,000 tonnes of spoil due to be removed from the western section of one of London’s biggest ever infrastructure projects.
