Livett’s supported the dramatic opening scenes of Citadel – Season 2, providing marine coordination, camera boat services, safety boats, rescue swimmers and picture boat sourcing for water-based action on the Upper Reaches of the River Thames.

How Livett's made it happen

Livett’s were enlisted to support the opening scenes of Citadel’s second season, which featured a complex water-based action sequence on the Upper Reaches of the River Thames.

With the sequence involving a performer entering the water, safety, planning and precise marine coordination were essential from the outset.

Chris Livett served as marine coordinator for the shoot, bringing his extensive Thames filming experience to a production that required close control of vessels, crew, camera requirements and on-water safety.

To support filming, we provided Charlie Lima as the camera boat. As a low-wash and versatile filming platform, Charlie Lima was well suited to working around the action while helping the production team capture the required shots with minimal disturbance on the river.

Indigo Lima and Echo Lima I were supplied as safety and support boats, providing flexible on-water cover throughout the shoot. Both vessels are well suited to filming support and safety boat work, giving the team practical, responsive craft for operating around the water-based sequence.

Livett’s also sourced and provided the required safety and rescue swimmers, adding an extra layer of protection for the scene and ensuring that the production had the right specialist personnel in place for work involving cast or performers in the water.

Additionally, we sourced the three picture boats required for the shoot. This vessel wrangling ensured the production had the right on-screen craft available, while the wider marine operation remained carefully managed behind the scenes.

The shoot ran smoothly, with Livett’s helping the production achieve an ambitious water-based sequence safely, efficiently and with the right specialist support in place.

Ed Livett, Managing Director of Livett’s, said: “Productions of this scale rely on everything working exactly as planned, especially when filming around the water. Our role is to give the creative team the confidence to focus on the shot, knowing the marine operation is safe, controlled and fully supported. We were delighted to contribute to Citadel – Season 2 and we’re proud to see another major production make use of the Thames in such an exciting way.”
