Livett’s are the guys for the job!

Livett’s have been inundated recently with offers to assist with big PR stunts along the River Thames; a very exciting arm of Livett’s! This increase in business emphasises the suitability and diversity of the craft Livett’s has available and shows the professional name they have made for themselves in the industry.

The year launched with helping eBay celebrate their 20th Birthday! Livett’s berth in the Port of Tilbury was used as the build site where 8 linkfloats were connected together so the giant eBay Birthday cake could sit on top. The ever-helpful crane on-board Scheldemond I was used to mobilise and demobilise the linkfloats. Thames Vixen was the tug of choice this time around and she towed the eBay Birthday cake along the river towards Southbank, where eBay staff were throwing themselves a party! Lima Lima was used as the camera boat for the stunt. What was noticeable about this job was that we turned it around in about 10 days successfully proving that although preferable, it doesn’t have to take months to plan these sorts of stunts!

This event created a big following on social media with the Hashtag #weareebay.

Next on the to-do list for Livett’s was to assist and coordinate the RWC 2015 PR and the launch of a new Under Armour product. This was a slightly more challenging job than normal as a Tower Bridge lift was needed and had to be coordinated into the schedule.

The event location was at Livett’s headquarters at Butler’s Wharf Pier. The build and development site was KGV lock (owned by RoDMA). A great site where craneage, storage and quayside working is very manageable.

The centre piece of the PR stunt was place onto our 30m x 10m barge, Rover, and the highly maneuverable Thames Vixen was the tug to tow the stunt along the Thames and under Tower Bridge. Lima Lima was alongside as a camera boat catching it all on film.

The final, more recent, ‘wow’ for Livett’s to shout about is the PR stunt that was created to celebrate and promote Croatia. Created in KGV lock, a 10m x 9m pontoon was provided as the platform to withstand a man-made island, including a castle, on top.

Steven B was the tug used to tow the pontoon up the River Thames to Livett’s headquarters, Butler’s Wharf Pier. Lima Lima was again the chosen camera boat to capture all the activity over the two-day event and this time we opened up our vessel, Erasmus, for the event, hosting the VIPs and competition winners, including the Croatian President.

Ed Livett commented on the recent PR activity, “All three PR Stunts were different and special in their own way, but what was consistent among them was that the client achieved maximum positive exposure, which is the ultimate goal. It’s great that the River Thames is becoming such a popular means for PR companies and it’s always a pleasure to work on the weird and wonderful!
